本作は、イソップ童話『卑怯なコウモリ』を引用している。
コウモリの立場に自身の状況を重ね合わせ、セルフケア、あるいは既存の枠組みの中に自己を結びつけること——すなわち、アイデンティティを定義すること——への問いとして、自身の身体性を提示することを目指した。

私は日本で育ち、湯船に浸かる習慣を持っている。一方で、身体には常に二つの国旗がまとわりついているような感覚がある。しかし外見的特徴からは「見えない混血」であり、コウモリのようにどちらにも属する存在として認識されることすら叶わない。自らカミングアウトしない限り、日本人として生きることができてしまう。
映像の中で、作者とともに湯船に浸かる国旗は水溶性の絵の具で描かれている。国旗という表象は湯に溶け、湯船を赤く染めていく。やがて色を失った二つの国旗は、ただの白い布へと変わっていく。

By overlaying my own situation onto that of the bat, I seek to present my bodily experience as a question of self-care and of binding oneself to existing frameworks—that is, of defining one’s identity.

Having grown up in Japan, I am accustomed to soaking in a bathtub. At the same time, I carry a constant sensation of two national flags clinging to my body. Yet based on my outward appearance, I am an “invisible mixed-race” individual. I cannot even be recognized as a bat-like figure who belongs to both sides. Unless I choose to come out myself, I am able to live as Japanese.
In the video, the national flags that share the bathtub with the artist are painted with water-soluble pigments. As they dissolve in the bath, the symbolic image of the flags melts away, tinting the water red. Gradually, as the color fades, the two flags are reduced to nothing more than white pieces of cloth.
